Develop production tooling for a locked hydraulic sub-system design, starting from a draft assembly storyboard and rough ideas within a short timeframe before pre-production.
Two adjustable sub-assembly stations, one main assembly station, three lifting tools and two supporting tools developed around the required assembly process.
Easier and faster assembly, improved safety and ergonomics, repeat equipment delivery to another factory and later retrofit for the next product generation.
Production context, equipment design, scope of delivery and verified customer value.
Following an updated product design, Siemens Energy needed a new set of production tools for assembling a hydraulic sub-system.
The project started from a draft storyboard of the assembly process and rough equipment ideas, without final concepts or specifications. Because the product design was already locked, the production tooling had to be developed within a constrained solution space.
The equipment also had to be ready within a short timeframe to support pre-production.
DIS Systems worked with Siemens Energy through a pre-project to clarify the assembly sequence, define the requirements and jointly develop the equipment concepts.
The resulting production setup included two sub-assembly stations with height adjustment and rotation for improved access and ergonomics, one main assembly station, three lifting tools for moving sub-assemblies to the main station and two supporting tools for sub-assembly operations.
DIS Systems then completed the detailed mechanical, electrical, automation and hydraulic engineering before production, assembly and functional testing.
