Upgrade of wind turbine test stands
Test equipment & integration

SENVION

High-voltage test stand upgrades delivered across active production sites, including equipment development, installation, commissioning and training.

Project overview

Upgrade of wind turbine test stands

Senvion needed to upgrade its existing wind turbine test stands to support a new generation of nacelle technology. The work required high-voltage electronics expertise, test stand experience and careful project coordination across active production sites.

The challenge

Senvion introduced its new generation 3.XM NES, Next Electrical System, to meet future demands for network stability. To support this, the existing nacelle test facilities at Bremerhaven and Trampe needed to be expanded and upgraded.

The project required the development and manufacture of inverters and simulation parts, as well as coordination of production, delivery and installation. At the same time, serial production continued at both sites, which meant the upgrade had to be completed without disrupting ongoing operations.

The solution

DIS CREADIS supported the project with experience in high-voltage electronics and test stand setup.

The project engineers were responsible for specifications, development and manufacture of inverters and simulation parts, as well as commissioning of the units. The work also included coordination and monitoring of production, delivery and installation, along with training for Senvion employees.

The final delivery included five new converters, six identical simulators and user-friendly, optimized test software.

The result

The upgraded test stands gave Senvion the equipment needed to test its new wind turbine technology efficiently and reliably.

The project was completed while serial production continued at both sites, showing the importance of strong technical coordination, practical execution and clear project responsibility in active production environments.

What this shows

This project reflects DIS Systems’ experience with test equipment, high-voltage systems and production integration, especially where technical upgrades must be delivered without unnecessary disruption to ongoing operations.
