Flexible packaging system for heavy roll handling
Custom machinery & packaging

SKY-LIGHT

A semi-automatic packaging system developed from concept to commissioning, helping improve safety, flexibility and productivity in a new production plant.

Project overview

Flexible packaging system for heavy roll handling

SKY-LIGHT invested in a new production plant and needed a flexible, safe and efficient packaging system for heavy roll handling. The equipment had to support rolls weighing from 200 kg to 1800 kg, adapt to different roll dimensions and handle nine different packing methods.

The challenge

The previous manual process was no longer the right fit for the new production setup. SKY-LIGHT needed a system that could improve safety and the working environment, while also supporting reliable production flow.

The packaging system had to be flexible enough to handle different roll diameters and widths, user friendly for operators and stable enough for continuous operation. Downtime, errors or difficult handling could create unnecessary risk for both production and people.

SKY-LIGHT did not have the internal resources to develop the system and needed a partner who could take responsibility for the development, construction, design, setup, assembly and commissioning of the plant.

The solution

DIS CREADIS worked closely with SKY-LIGHT through a pilot project, workshops, analysis and concept development. The goal was to define a practical solution that matched the production task, operating conditions and technical requirements.

The final solution was a semi-automatic, operator-controlled weighing, sorting and packaging system based on simple, reliable principles. The system was developed to handle different roll sizes and support nine packing methods, giving SKY-LIGHT a flexible setup for the new plant.

The result

The project resulted in a stable and future-proof roll handling and packaging system with a safer working environment and a more efficient production process.

The system ran smoothly from day one, with only minor adjustments after startup. According to SKY-LIGHT, the plant was several notches above the safety benchmark and reflected the value of working with experienced specialists used to building large machinery.

What this shows

This project is a clear example of the type of production challenge DIS Systems is built for: turning a complex operational need into working equipment that performs in real production.
